Lunch at Barrafina Borough Yards

A few colleagues and I was looking for lunch somewhere around Borough Market and bumped into Barrafina. I first heard of Barrafina, when their  counter top restaurant at Frith Street received it’s one Michelin star award, the first tapas restaurant to do so in the UK.  Although the award was a few years ago, the  restaurant is  still known for it’s high quality cooking and is always  very busy whenever I walked past.

Imagine my delight, they actually opened a restaurant south of the river, in my favourite foodie hunting spot at that. We tried our luck and got a free table the minute we walked in. It seems like their Borough Yards site is more suited to group dining.

Everyone agreed that the dishes we ordered were very flavoursome, so here are a few pictures to wet your appetites

Gambas Rojas : £21 : This was the first thing I ordered on the menu. The prawns were juicy and succulent. Make sure you dip chunks of bread in that oil.
Caldereta del Dia :£27 . Delicious fish stew to share. The monkfish was perfect. I really wanted to pour the stew down my throat like fantastic Mr Fox, but alas I had to look civilised
Arroz con Leche : £9.50 . I love a good rice pudding so this went down a treat. Lunch at Barrafina Borough yards was pretty good
