I used to order and eat a lot of juicy Ribeye steaks at restaurants and bought quite a few from the local Tesco’s and Morrisons on nights at home to supplement my craving. I was happy with my usual Argentinian beef.. well happy until I saw an advert on Instagram from a company called the Steakshop. I clicked on the button and it opened up a new whole world of Steak to me from different countries , all rated according to their marbling, flavour and tenderness. Two steaks caught my eye, their Australian highly marbled Wagyu with a 8-9 scale grading (a grading of 9 is tons of marbling to 0 which is no marbling. Anything above 9 is scored as 9+ ) and Txuleta beef from the Basque region in Northern Spain, a piece of beef from cows aged 15 + years they describe as the best in the world due to their deep intense flavour. I selected the Wagyu Rib eye , Txuleta Sirloin and Merlot infused salt , ordered it online on Tuesday and it arrived Thursday morning. This was my chance to review of the Steakshop Australian Ribeye Wagyu and Txuleta Sirloin Steak.
I slapped the Steakshop Txuleta Sirloin on a BBQ, sprinkled some of the merlot infused salt and black pepper .
After 5 minutes on both side, I added some melted butter and thyme to the Steak and left it in on the coal for 2 more minutes.
The Steak had sooooo much flavour, it was mind blowing and intense. This is what meat is meant to taste like and the scarier thing was the fact that this wasn’t even a Txuleta Ribeye Steak. I really recommend this beef. it reminded me of the Van Hereford steaks I had at the In’t Nieuw Museum in Brugge. The below was obviously more flavourful
The Steakshop Australian Wagyu ( means Japanese cow ) ribeye had a lot of marbling. It had soo much fat I took precious care to keep it medium rare by giving it 3 mins on both side on a hot pan.
I placed it on coal for 30 seconds on both sides and let it rest on a plate for a few mins before cutting my way through
The Australian Ribeye Wagyu tasted soft and flavourful, it literally melted in my mouth. It is juicy , tender and soo rich in taste it tastes different to other steaks you might have tried in your normal restaurant setting.
The 2 steaks I bought , the Australian Ribeye Wagyu and Txuleta Sirloin were soo tasty, it was incredible. I will definitely source this kinds of meat online again. The price was relatively modest at £59 for 2 x 200g Wagyu Ribeye and £22 for the Txuleta Sirloin. This is a lot cheaper than what I spend at restaurants on steaks at times, so value wise it’s worth every penny .
I hoped you enjoyed my review of the Steakshop Australian Ribeye Wagyu and Txuleta Sirloin steak and I look forward to seeing you soon.
